Climate change on our doorstep
Melting polar ice caps and rising sea levels are probably the best-known consequences of a changing global climate. However, as persistent heatwaves and droughts in many places in Germany show, climate change has long since reached us too.
But how does this manifest itself in concrete terms on our doorstep - beyond ever new temperature records? What are people and local authorities in Hesse doing to prepare for the new challenges?
The final-year students at the School of Journalism asked themselves questions like these. In search of answers, they travelled across Hesse, researched stories and turned them into multimedia.

A multimedia dossier was created in cooperation with hessenschau.de. In eight multimedia pieces, the students approached the topic of climate change from very different perspectives - for example, from the point of view of a particularly heat-stricken city centre resident, a young designer who focuses on sustainability, or from the perspective of scientists who want to make the forest fit for climate change.
The always constructive view of the topics was particularly important to the students - not just: What is? But also: What is being done?
