That little bit extra - certificate programmes at the School of Journalism
Our two certificates “Text-based Publishing” and “Innovative Audiovisual Work” are two study programs that are open to all Master's students at JGU. They consist of three courses each. In terms of content, the certificates are primarily aimed at strengthening employability. This includes both subject-specific and interdisciplinary skills. Successful participation in a certificate program is listed in the transcript of records and is also evidenced by a certificate. Both certificates can be completed as voluntary additional work. In the MAST3R degree programs, the credits earned through certificates count towards the 120 ECTS credits required for a Master's degree.
Text-based Publishing
How does (mass) media work? How do journalists work? What do text-based journalistic products look like and how are they produced? You will get answers to these questions in the “Text-based Publishing” certificate. You will learn from professors and active journalists from the field how you can use texts to present complex topics in an attractive way for a broad audience and gain initial experience in the production of journalistic text contributions.
Innovative Audiovisual Work
How does audiovisual media work? How do journalists work? What do audiovisual journalistic products look like, how are they developed and produced? In lectures and discussions with professors and active journalists from the field, you will learn how to develop audio-visual products for specific target groups in a team and how to present complex topics in a contemporary and attractive way for a broad audience. You will gain initial experience in the practical implementation of what you have learned and the production of audiovisual contributions.
