Innovative Audiovisual Work
How does audiovisual media work? How do journalists work? What do audiovisual journalistic products look like, how are they developed and produced? In lectures and discussions with professors and active journalists from the field, you will learn how to develop audio-visual products for specific target groups in a team and how to present complex topics in a contemporary and attractive way for a broad audience. You will gain initial experience in the practical implementation of what you have learned and the production of audiovisual contributions.
When does it start?
Every year in the winter semester. Applications can be submitted between May 16 and September 1.
Who can apply?
Students of all Master's degree programs at JGU and students taking Profile 3 in MAST3R degree programs. The application is made via the Online-Application Portal JOGU-StiNe.
What you can expect
Lecture on audiovisual journalism
The lecture teaches the theoretical
and practical basics of audiovisual publishing. You will receive a well-founded overview of
the basics of perception, practical image and sound design as well as target group-oriented
topic identification, research and interviewing.

Seminar Innovations in audiovisual production
The focus here is on
innovative working techniques that can also be applied beyond the media industry and prepare
students for a professional, contemporary, team-based working environment.

CampusMedia
In the final course, you will develop and realize
audiovisual contributions with different topics and forms of presentation. You will work
cooperatively in an editorial team and in this way get to know internal editorial processes
and routines. The contributions will be broadcast on Offener Kanal Mainz and published on
various internet and social media platforms.
