Something with media

by Philipp NeuweilerJens Hartmann

It’s finally here, the second edition of ‘Something with media’. It’s been a long journey, especially for the two editors Marie Frei and Theresa Krebs.

“The second edition was created in long late-night editorial meetings in the media centre, on kitchen dates in our shared flat and alone in front of our respective computers (thanks DB!).” But the two AVP alumni kept at it. Together with their twenty-strong editorial team, they have created another large media magazine, which has been hot off the presses for a few days now: 82 pages full of exciting articles, film reviews, essays and puzzles. The illustrations are very memorable: Drawings and lino prints that give the magazine a unique look. Another special feature of the second magazine is the focus on listening: Portraits of film composers, an interview with a foley artist, as well as podcast and radio play reviews.

‘Something with Media’ was created entirely through the voluntary work of students. Many of them are from our Audiovisual Media programme. It shows once again what university life is all about beyond the ECTS and what results are achieved when young media students pursue their passion. We are all the more pleased that we at the School of Journalism were able to support the editorial team: through workshops, the provision of a workspace, financial support for printing, help with finalising the data and the design of an online platform.
